On January 29, Her Excellency Satoshi Suzuki, Japanese Ambassador to Italy, visited VISIA Imaging S.r.l. (“VISIA”), a company that designs, develops, and manufactures ophthalmic medical instruments and software in Italy.

During his visit, Ambassador Suzuki received a briefing on TOPCON and VISIA, followed by a tour of the production line. He then engaged in discussions on technological innovation and opportunities for further collaboration between Japan and Italy. Reflecting on his visit, he remarked, “I am pleased that VISIA’s cutting-edge technology is contributing to the health of people not only in Italy but also around the world.”

Established in 1993, VISIA develops and manufactures anterior segment examination equipment (referring to the cornea, lens, etc.) and its software. Topcon Corporation acquired the company in 2021. The collaboration between Topcon, known for its technologies in posterior segment examination (fundus cameras and OCT systems), and VISIA, with its expertise in the anterior segment, has enhanced Topcon’s comprehensive capabilities as an ophthalmic diagnostic instrument manufacturer.
