Topcon opened a new and world’s only factory for the advanced optical components.
Deliver Japanese master craftmanship from Fukushima to the WorldTopcon Corporation (headquarters: Itabashi, Tokyo, President & CEO: Satoshi Hirano) announced a completion of new factory of TOPCON OPTONEXUS Co., Ltd. (Tamura-shi, Fukushima, President: Katsuhiko Muramatsu), a 100% subsidiary of Topcon, in order to expand production capacity of optical components that supports Topcon’s overall growth strategy. The construction of new factory was completed on October 22nd.
TOPCON OPTONEXUS was established in 1969 for production and distribution of optical components and optical units for Topcon Corporation, a precision optical equipment manufacturer with 88 years of history.
Over the last half-century, TOPCON OPTONEXUS has supported Topcon’s global business development of surveying instruments and eyecare medical devices by orchestrating sophisticated ultraprecise polishing processing technology and optical thin-film coating technology to manufacture optical lens, prism, and optical units.
While many Japanese manufacturers of various industries transfer their production outside of Japan in pursuit of cost reduction, TOPCON OPTONEXUS takes pride in “Made in Japan” and continues to offer high-quality optical components.
Due to the high degree of trust in the ultra-precise processing technology and quality enabled by the “master craftsmanship,” TOPCON OPTONEXUS is not only a manufactures of Topcon’s key optical components but also a commission manufacturer of various leading Japanese precision equipment manufacturers, thus contributing to Japan’s manufacturing industry.
The new factory that was constructed in the industrial park at Tamura-shi, Fukushima will enhance coexistence with the local community by introducing environment-conscious infrastructure, improve technological and quality capacity by the latest manufacturing equipments, and enhance productivity improvement by adopting new production control systems. As a key component factory, it will take on the role of the “cutting-edge optical component factory” that supports the group’s growth strategy.
