Topcon Changes Organizational Structure into 3 In-House Companies in Pursuit of Management Acceleration

Topcon Corporation (Tokyo:7732)(ISIN:JP3630400004) announcesthe Company has implemented an organizational change as one of the business reformation strategies described in its “Mid-term Business Plan 2014.” The plan will be completed by FY2014 ending March 2015.
This transition, from two business units (Positioning and Eye Care) to three in-house company units, provides each company higher authority enabling speedier decision-making and management. In the new structure, the Positioning Business Unit will be divided into the Smart Infrastructure Company and the Positioning Company. The Eye Care Company will remain unchanged from its current status. 
For the Positioning Company, the U.S. subsidiary Topcon Positioning Systems under the Positioning Business Unit is upgraded with the mission to primarily expand new high-precision GPS-related business including GPS surveying, construction machine control and precision agriculture.
The Smart Infrastructure Company, meanwhile, pursues the mission of primarily expanding its core business including total stations, 3D laser scanner and mobile mapping system.
In addition to this organizational change,the Corporate Strategy Division will be newly established as an organization to exercise cross-sectional control over these three companies.
